President Faure sends birthday greetings to Zambia’s first President |09 May 2020

President Danny Faure has sent birthday greetings to Dr Kenneth Kaunda, the first President of the Republic of Zambia, who turned 96 on April 28.

“On the occasion of the 96th birthday of Dr Kenneth Kaunda, first President of the Republic of Zambia, the government and the people of Seychelles join me in extending our warmest wishes and sincerest congratulations on this milestone celebration,” said President Faure in a message.

“Dr Kaunda is among one of the prominent and influential leaders in Africa, known for his great contributions during the struggle for independence and in shaping the Republic of Zambia to what it is today,” concluded President Faure’s message.

Born on April 28, 1924, Dr Kaunda was Zambia’s president from 1964 to 1991.
