Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority gets new board

• Veronique Laporte appointed chairperson

 

President Danny Faure has announced the appointment of the board of the Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority.

The chairperson of the board is Veronique Laporte and the vice‑chairperson is Lt Col Jean Atala.

The other board members are: Capt. Daniel Hoareau, Capt. Christopher Renaud, Capt. Peshala Medagama, Aaishah Molle and Jude Talma.

The board members have been appointed for a three-year period. 

The appointments follow the enactment of the new Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority Act that came into force on April 1, 2020.

In accordance with Section 11 of the Act, the Appeals Board of the Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority has also been appointed.

Anne Lafortune will be the chairperson and the two other members are Jean-Paul Marie and Emily Gonthier.        

The functions of the Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority are to administer, regulate, coordinate and oversee all maritime affairs.
