‘As One’: Youth unite in faith, fellowship and joy |24 October 2026

For participants of the Youth for Christ (YFC) Echo Conference, the weekend of October 10 to 11 was an unforgettable journey of faith, fellowship, discovery and joy.
Through workshops, Mass, prayer and shared activities, attendees described the event as a meaningful opportunity to uncover hidden talents, strengthen their faith and build lasting bonds as one family in Christ.
Youth for Christ, a Christian youth ministry under Couples for Christ, hosted its annual Echo Conference at Beauvoir, La Misère, bringing together 45 participants from the Central, South and Inner Islands areas.
Centred on the theme ‘As One’, the conference provided opportunities for young people to deepen their faith, strengthen relationships with one another and reflect on the importance of unity in Christ.
Inspired by Jesus’ prayer in John 17:21, the theme encouraged participants to recognise their unity in Christ’s love, regardless of their backgrounds or personal struggles. A variety of activities throughout the conference nurtured spiritual growth and fostered meaningful fellowship among attendees.
The programme featured three main sessions. The first, ‘Come to the Table’, was delivered by Nicolas David, a member of Singles for Christ. The session focused on how a sense of belonging shapes a person’s past, present and future.
Participants were reminded that the deepest human need for belonging is fulfilled at the table of Jesus, a table open not to the rich and powerful alone, but to the poor, the burdened and the spiritually hungry.
The second session, ‘Bon Appétit’, was led by Sister Nita. It explored how the Holy Eucharist serves as essential nourishment for the soul, uniting believers with Christ and empowering them to be broken and shared in service to others.
Following the session, participants took part in a powerful period of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament.
The conference concluded with the third session, ‘Carrier of Joy’, led by Jaquelin Souffe. The presentation emphasised that encountering Jesus in ordinary moments creates a lasting joy that overflows into daily life, turning believers into invitations that draw others closer to Christ.
Alongside the sessions, participants attended enriching workshops covering a range of topics, including testimony writing, mentorship in YFC, silent listening, mental health awareness and the role of young people in faith-based nation-building.
The conference also celebrated participants’ creativity and cultural heritage during a vibrant Creole Night, where groups showcased their unity through theatre, dance and other artistic performances.
The weekend concluded on Sunday afternoon, leaving participants with renewed faith and a challenge to carry the spirit of unity and joy into their daily lives.
