Air Seychelles is taking decisive steps toward recovery and future growth, with plans to progressively restore salaries reduced during the Covid-19 pandemic while enhancing career progression opportunities for pilots.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday at Botanical House, Minister for Transport, Ports & Civil Aviation Veronique Laporte, alongside board members and management, outlined measures aimed at strengthening the airline’s financial sustainability, operational stability and workforce development.
She said the initiatives are essential to reinforcing Air Seychelles’ role as a national lifeline and supporting the country’s tourism-driven economy.
Minister Laporte acknowledged employee dissatisfaction, particularly among First Officers, and stressed that the airline’s board and management are actively working to address concerns.
“I understand the level of dissatisfaction, I understand it very well, I take it very seriously,” she said.
The minister explained that salary restoration efforts would cover several categories of employees, including First Officers operating jet aircraft, domestic pilots, captains and engineers, rather than focusing on a single group. Adjustments will be implemented progressively, based on the airline’s financial performance and capacity.
