United Nations Day renews call for peace, solidarity and global cooperation |24 October 2026

The world marks United Nations Day today, renewing calls for international cooperation, peace, human rights and sustainable development as the United Nations (UN) continues to address conflict, inequality and the growing impacts of climate change.

Observed annually on October 24, the day commemorates the entry into force of the UN Charter in 1945, marking the official establishment of the organisation. The observance provides an opportunity for governments, communities and individuals to reflect on the organisation’s achievements and reaffirm their commitment to its founding principles.
