Seychelles has officially launched its first National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security (2026–2031) marking an important milestone in the country’s commitment to advancing women’s meaningful participation in peace, security, governance, crisis response and national resilience.

The action plan by the Government of Seychelles in partnership with the African Union (AU) was launched by the Minister for Social Affairs, Family & Equality, Pamela Charlette, in a ceremony held yesterday evening the Eden Bleu Hotel, Eden Island, in the presence of high-level national and international representatives, including senior representatives from AU, Southern African Development Community (SADC), UN Women and other development and regional partners. First lady Veronique Herminie was also present.

The launch provided an opportunity to highlight Seychelles’ commitment to translating the global Women, Peace and Security agenda into a nationally owned framework that responds to the country’s specific context and priorities.
