They can travel much farther than we imagine, reaching places and changing lives in ways we may never expect.

One Saturday morning, I was travelling by bus, quietly reading the weekend edition of the Seychelles NATION newspaper. A young man, probably around 23 years old, was seated next to me. I noticed that he kept looking at the pages as I turned them, particularly the employment section.

After a while, he gathered the courage to ask me, “Sir, can I read the page with the job adverts?”

“Sure, you can,” I replied, handing him the newspaper.

He eagerly went through the vacancies. A few minutes later, he pointed to one of the advertisements and asked if he could use my phone to call the number provided.

“Of course,” I said.
