President Herminie to attend 81st Session of the UN General Assembly

 

President Patrick Herminie will travel to New York, United States of America, to participate in the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The 81st Session of the General Assembly opened on September 8, 2026. The General Debate, which brings together Heads of State and Government from around the world, will commence on September 22.

This year’s session is being held under the theme, ‘Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All’. The High-Level Week will provide an important platform for world leaders to address shared global challenges, strengthen international cooperation and advance collective action towards sustainable development, peace and global stability.

President Herminie will be out of the country from Wednesday September 16, 2026 an is expected to return on Thursday October 1, 2026, He will resume office on Monday October 5, 2026.

During his visit, President Herminie is also expected to participate in a series of high-level engagements and bilateral meetings.

In his absence, Vice-President Sebastien Pillay will assume the responsibilities and represent the Republic in the discharge of official duties and engagements, in line with established practice.
