‘Seeing a pristine ecosystem firsthand was an epiphany’

Behind every career is a story, shaped by the people we meet, the places we grow up in, and the sparks of curiosity along the way.
Long before marine science became her profession, Kettyna Gabriel was captivated by the world beneath the waves. Childhood trips between Mahé and La Digue, watching flying fish skim the horizon, and discovering Sir David Attenborough’s ocean documentaries all fuelled a curiosity that would eventually define her career.
