Ministry hands over e-bikes to boost low-carbon transport on La Digue
The Ministry of Environment, Climate, Energy & Natural Resources has handed over eleven electric bicycles to government ministries and agencies on La Digue as part of ongoing efforts to promote sustainable transportation and reduce carbon emissions.
The electric bicycles were recently donated by the Chinese embassy in Seychelles through Ambassador Lin Nan and supplied by Lemi Company. The initiative forms part of the South-South Cooperation Low-Carbon Demonstration and Ozone Initiative, which supports Seychelles’ transition towards greener and more climate-resilient development.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, the principal secretary for Energy & Climate Affairs, Tony Imaduwa, said the initiative represents another important step towards adopting environmentally friendly practices.
