Elie Marzocchi takes top prize in jersey design challenge |01 August 2026

Elie Marzocchi has emerged as the first‑place winner of the National Intellectual Property Committee (NIPC) Jersey Design Concept Competition, held as part of the celebrations for World Intellectual Property Day 2026 under the theme ‘IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate!’ observed annually on April 26.

The 18‑year‑old received a cheque for R10,000, sponsored by Gran Kaz, to support the printing of her winning jersey. In addition, she was awarded a R2,500 voucher and merchandise from Gran Kaz, a three‑month free subscription with installation valued at R4,500 from Intelvision, and a R3,000 cash prize from MacMillan’s Intellectual Property Attorneys Ltd.

Speaking to the press, Ms Marzocchi explained that her inspiration came from observing different sports in Seychelles and abroad, combining those ideas into a meaningful design. She chose a rainbow palette to symbolise unity and the diversity of Seychellois culture. “It took me a week because of school commitments, and I had to do a lot of research into IP and Seychelles sport to bring it all together,” she said. “I wanted a shirt that is not only visually exciting but also meaningful.”

She humbly admitted she did not expect to win, given the strong competition, and was surprised by the outcome.
