Safe purchase, refill of bottled water
The Public Health Authority wishes to inform all consumers and members of the public of the following important measures to help ensure that the bottled water you purchase or have refilled is safe for drinking.
Consumers and members of the public are encouraged to follow these recommendations:
- Purchase bottled water only from a licensed bottling plant or an authorised distributor with a valid license.
- Check that the company’s name on the bottle matches the name of the bottling plant where the bottle is being refilled.
- Always request and keep your receipt after purchasing or refilling bottled water.
- Inspect the bottle carefully to ensure it is clean, in good condition, and free from any foreign matter or debris.
The Public Health Authority also wishes to remind all consumers that all bottled water producers and distributors have been informed that it is strictly prohibited by law to sell or distribute bottled water in containers bearing the name or brand of another company.
This requirement is intended to protect consumers and ensure the traceability of bottled water products.
Members of the public are requested to remain vigilant and to notify the Public Health Authority on telephone number 4388079 | 4388143 | 4388504 if they encounter anything unusual about the bottles they have purchased or refilled.
