Young athletes get ready for National Inter-School Athletics Championships
With days left before the 43rd National Inter-School Athletics Championships, young athletes had the chance to assess their progress during the National Junior Championships which took place last weekend at Stad Popiler.
The competition, organised by the Seychelles Athletics Federation (SAF), gathered a good crowd of young athletes who had the support of older contestants in various track and field events.
Favourites such as Denzel Adam, Caleb Vadivello, Natacha Chetty and Tessy Bristol were present to motivate other young promising athletes.
The following are the top three finishers in each event
Girls’ 100m: 1. Shakira Joubert (Port Glaud Shooting Star – 12.01 seconds), 2. Shakira Payet (Port Glaud Shooting Star – 12.06 seconds), 3. Alckisha Rigodon (Arsu – 12.08 seconds)
Boys’ 100m: 1. Denzel Adam (Fast Track – 10.07 seconds), 2. Jerold Alexis (Port Glaud Shooting Star – 11.02 seconds), 3. Stevie Marie (Fast Track – 11.05 seconds)
Girls’ 400m: 1. Tessy Bristol (Arsu – 1:02.09), 2. Elilia Anderson (Arsu – 1:06.05), 3. Joy Cupidon (Arsu – 1:11.06)
Boys’ 400m: 1. Caleb Vadivello (Port Glaud Shooting Star – 49.06 Seconds), 2. Shane Jean (Top Racers – 52.02 seconds), 3. Johannus Lucas (Arsu – 52.07)
Girls 1500: 1. Shanna Jouanneau (Top Racers – 5:43.02), 2. Anisha Rabat (Arsu – 6:11.08), 3. Sheryl Confiance (Top Racers – 6:28.05)

Girls’ 4x100m relay: 1. Port Glaud Shooting Star (Stephanie Legras, Amelie Charles, Shakira Joubert, Shakira Payet ) – 50.4 seconds, 2.
