Aftermath of devastating fires in Spain, Bangkok |14 July 2026

President Herminie extends condolences to Spanish and Thai leaders

 

President Patrick Herminie has sent separate messages of condolence to Pedro Sánchez, President of the Government of the Kingdom of Spain, and to Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, following devastating fires in their respective countries which have claimed lives.

In his message to President Sanchez, President Herminie stated:

“I was saddened to learn of the recent wildfires which ravaged the Province of Almería, resulting in the loss of lives and mass displacement.

“On behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Seychelles, and in my own name, I

extend our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy to you and the people of Spain, and in

particular, the families who have lost their loved ones in this tragedy.

“We offer our solidarity during this challenging time. We remain confident the nation will

surmount this adversity and emerge more resilient.”

In his message to Prime Minister Charnvirakul, President Herminie stated:

“It is with great sadness that I learned of the massive fire in Bangkok, which claimed the lives of twenty-seven people and left many others critically injured.

“On behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Seychelles, and on my own behalf, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones, and our sympathy to those injured and affected by this devastating incident.

“The scale of this tragedy has brought profound sorrow, and we share in the grief of the Thai people during this difficult time.  

“May the resilience and unity of your nation provide strength and comfort as you support those most affected and guide your country through this period of mourning.”
