The new Bahá’í Centre on La Digue
The opening of the new Bahá’í Centre on La Digue marked a historic milestone for the island’s Bahá’í community, fulfilling a vision that began more than two decades ago. The inauguration was not only a celebration of a newly constructed building but also the beginning of a new chapter in community life, as the centre opens its doors to people of all backgrounds as a place of worship, learning, fellowship, and service. For the Bahá’ís of La Digue, present on the island since the 1960s without a permanent centre of their own, the occasion was described as a true blessing for both the Bahá’í community and the island as a whole.
The inauguration ceremony, held yesterday, brought together Bahá’ís and friends from Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue in a spirit of unity and celebration. Among those attending was the district’s administrator, Barbara Barallon, whose presence underscored the significance of the occasion for the wider island community. The programme featured prayers and devotional chants performed by Bahá’ís from Mahé and Praslin, creating a reverent atmosphere that reflected the spiritual purpose of the new centre.
