Russian experts aid Venn’s Town heritage mapping

A team of four Russian heritage experts will carry out a specialised 3D mapping and documentation mission in Seychelles from June 25 to July 1, 2026. This initiative follows the memorandum of understanding signed in April 2026 between the Russian Archaeology Rescue Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture of Seychelles, with support from the embassy of the Russian Federation in Seychelles and the Department of Lands and Housing (GIS/Survey Section).

The mission will provide valuable technical support to strengthen the Mission Ruins of Venn’s Town nomination dossier, contributing critical data for conservation, management, interpretation, and international recognition. Advanced documentation technologies and internationally recognised recording methodologies will enhance the dossier’s evidence base.
