Former President Ramkalawan responds to allegations, calls for apology to UAE
Following President Patrick Herminie’s live press conference on May 7, 2026, during which he alleged that State House under former President Wavel Ramkalawan was involved in the importation of commodities, Mr Ramkalawan has strongly rejected the claims. He stated that the accusations, published in The People newspaper under President Herminie’s leadership, were an attempt to discredit his presidency and had potentially sparked a diplomatic row with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
