Labour message from the Minister for Education & Human Resource Development

‘From classrooms to communities – Workers are our nation’s strength’

“On this International Labour Day, I wish to pay special tribute to all employees of the Ministry of Education & Human Resource Development; from our teachers, school leaders, administrative staff, support workers, technicians, cleaners, drivers, and officers across headquarters and institutions, your contribution is invaluable. Each of you plays a vital role in shaping the future of our country through service to education, training, and human resource development.

“This year’s theme, ‘Let’s ensure a healthy psychosocial working environment’, reminds us that workers’ well-being is essential to sustainable development. A workplace that values respect, dignity, and mental health is one where innovation flourishes and every worker can thrive.

“Looking ahead, the ministry will be launching a national anti-bullying campaign. This initiative directly supports the Labour Day theme by safeguarding psychosocial health in schools and workplaces. Bullying undermines mental well-being, erodes confidence, and weakens productivity. By promoting kindness, respect, and solidarity, we will create environments where teachers, students, and all workers feel safe, valued, and empowered to contribute joyfully.

“Today, we celebrate not only the work we do, but the humanity that binds us together. Let us honour the teachers shaping futures, the employees driving innovation, the caregivers nurturing lives, and every worker whose labour sustains our nation.

“With a common Purpose, Humility and Devotion, we will continue to build workplaces that unite, uplift, empower and inspire.

“Happy Labour Day to all workers, your contribution is our nation’s greatest strength.
