Seychelles leads historic International SIDS Day

A symbolic tree-planting ceremony at the Glacis Noire Trail on Praslin marked the inaugural celebration of the International Day of Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
On Saturday, 39 trees were planted – each representing one of the SIDS worldwide – symbolising unity, resilience, and a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development. The initiative, ‘Plant a Tree for a SIDS’, was first launched in 2014 at the Biodiversity Centre during the International Year of SIDS in Seychelles.
