International Women’s Day message from Maarco Francis, President of the Seychelles United Movement

‘Uplifting women, inspiring progress’

“Today, as we mark International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength, leadership, and contribution of women across Seychelles.
“This year’s theme, ‘Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls’, reminds us that progress must be measured not only in words, but in real opportunities and protections that allow every woman and girl to live with dignity and confidence.
“In Seychelles, women continue to play a central role in building our nation. They lead businesses, guide our classrooms, care for families, serve in public life, and contribute to every part of our economy and society. Their voices, talents, and ambitions are essential to the future of our country.
“The theme also calls on all of us to ensure that women and girls can fully enjoy their rights and have equal access to justice and opportunity. This means continuing to remove barriers that limit potential and strengthening a culture where fairness, respect, and inclusion guide how we treat one another.
“Empowering women is not only a matter of equality. It is a foundation for stronger communities, healthier families, and a more prosperous nation.
“On this International Women’s Day, I encourage all Seychellois to support and uplift the women and girls around us. Let us continue working together to create a society where every woman and girl has the space, the confidence, and the opportunity to reach her full potential.
“On behalf of the Seychelles United Movement, I wish all women across our islands a meaningful and inspiring International Women’s Day.”
