SCAA details requests to bypass Mahé airport for Assomption flights

 

The chief executive of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority, Garry Albert, told the Commission of Inquiry into the Assomption Island lease and development that requests were made for aircraft to land directly on the island without first stopping at Mahé but these were refused.

Mr Albert testified before the commission yesterday, explaining that international aviation rules require aircraft entering Seychelles to first land at Seychelles International Airport on Mahé. He said he rejected requests that would have allowed flights to bypass the normal entry point.

“I received a request for aircraft to land directly on Assomption, not through Mahé, and I did not approve it,” Mr Albert told the commission.
