An amazing bird found at Intendance!
On a recent visit to Intendance together with fellow birding enthusiast, Steve Agricole, we were both amazed to find a Pheasant-tailed Jacana. This is the first time this species has been recorded anywhere in the western Indian Ocean.
Jacanas are ridiculously cool birds. Also known as ‘lily-trotters’, they can walk on floating vegetation like lily pads thanks to their huge feet and insanely long toes, which spread their weight so they do not sink.
