The newly established Board of Inquiry into the importation of firearms was officially sworn in yesterday morning at State House.

The board was created on December 31, 2025, by President Patrick Herminie in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces. President Herminie officiated the ceremony, during which the four members took their oaths of office.

Honourable Justice Duncan Gaswaga will serve as chairperson, joined by Nissa Thomson, Justin Dogley, and Edward Anacoura. Together, they will oversee the inquiry and ensure that proceedings are conducted fairly, transparently, and impartially.

All members swore an oath under the Defence Board of Inquiry on Importation of Firearms Regulations 2025, pledging to carry out their duties independently and with integrity.
