President Herminie visits embassy of Seychelles in Abu Dhabi |12 December 2025
As the final engagement of his official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), President Patrick Herminie, accompanied by First Lady Veronique Herminie and members of his delegation, paid a visit to the embassy of the Republic of Seychelles in Abu Dhabi.
The delegation was warmly received by Ambassador Gervais Moumou, his spouse, Pamela Payet, and the staff of the Mission.
During a brief presentation, the ambassador outlined the embassy’s core mandate in representing and promoting Seychelles’ interests in the UAE and across the 19 countries falling under the Mission’s jurisdiction, as well as its role within the International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena), where he serves as Seychelles’ permanent representative.
The President was also briefed on the embassy’s function as one of the three overseas passport enrolment stations worldwide, the other two being located at the Seychelles Missions in London and Paris, a service designed to bring critical consular support closer to Seychellois nationals living abroad.
Ambassador Moumou also provided an update on the embassy’s engagements with the Seychellois community residing in the region, including matters relating to the welfare and consular support of Seychellois nationals, and the Mission’s ongoing follow-up with the 16 Seychellois students currently based in the UAE.
President Herminie expressed his appreciation for the dedicated work carried out by the Mission, not only in strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations but also in safeguarding the interests and wellbeing of Seychellois citizens, particularly those who may face challenges during travel or residence in the region.
Following the presentation, the presidential delegation were given a tour of the embassy, providing them with an overview of the Mission’s operating environment and ongoing initiatives in the UAE and the wider region.
