Classification of Victoria bypass in Official Gazette |08 October 2025
The Ministry of Transport has announced that, in accordance with the Road Act, Act 25 of 1902, the Road Act (Classification of Victoria Bypass) Order, 2025, and CAP 205 – Notice to Prescribe Building Line, have been officially published in the Government Official Gazette.
The Minister for Transport, Antony Derjacques, has confirmed that these actions form part of the government’s continued commitment to improving national transport infrastructure.
Minister Derjacques noted that the need for a continuous highway linking the northern and southern regions of Mahé has long been identified as a key component of Seychelles’ transport network. Since taking office, he has maintained steady progress toward this goal, including the classification of roads at Providence in 2021 and Ile du Port in 2025.
He further underlined that establishing the Victoria Bypass – from Bois de Rose Avenue to the Maison du Peuple area – is a necessary step to complete this network, enabling better connectivity through the capital.
“The Victoria Bypass is a continuation of our efforts to enhance mobility, ease congestion, and support national development. We hope for the support and understanding of all stakeholders as we move forward with this important project,” concluded Minister Derjacques.
