IEA launches PPP to tackle land shortage for local businesses

The Industrial Estate Agency has announced the launch of a Public Private Partnership along with two other projects to directly address a longstanding shortage of land and workspaces for local businesses – particularly in the manufacturing and light industrial sectors.

The agency’s chief executive, Thelma Estico, made the announcement during a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, at the agency’s headquarters at the Leve Debourye building in Providence. Under the pilot phase, the project will be implemented in the districts of Au Cap and Perseverance. According to Mrs Estico this move “will assist in solving the issue of land and workspace scarcity”, adding that “we are turning to the private sector as a partner in creating new, quality industrial spaces that meet the demand”.
