Cadets clash, new classes debut, training progress in packed karting calendar

 

The karting calendar has resumed in full swing, with a packed schedule of racing and training events, marking an exciting period for the sport.

From new class debuts to tightly contested races and continued academy development, below is a full round-up of recent action in the Seychelles Karting scene.

 

Academy Juniors and Girls on track

Last weekend began with Academy Juniors and the Seychelles Karting Aassociation (SKA) Girls on Track attending their fourth training session.

The young drivers continued their structured development, focusing on mastering the full flag catalogue and practicing overtaking techniques on track, a key milestone in their progression.

 

K-Legends and A&D Classes Debut

Two new classes joined the national karting scene with official debut races on Sunday May 25 at the Roche Caïman track:

K-Legends

Seven drivers took to the grid in this new class, which brings together veterans and returnees, all holding full competition licenses.

Peter Fred dominated the 10-lap final, taking victory and the fastest lap of the dayat46.205 seconds.

He was followed by Ian Denis in second place and Martin Chetty in third position.

Newcomer Vincent Pierre impressed in fourth, while George DelcyandYannick Arissol finished fifth and sixth respectively, with Marius Barra missing the race due to illness.

The K-Legends class will continue across four rounds and feature in major SKA events, including the Grand Prix.

 

A&D Race Class

Seven drivers who graduated from Arrive & Drive (A&D) sessions took their first steps into competitive racing after obtaining special race licenses.

The final saw Dwane Freminot rise to the occasion and take the win, along with the fastest lapat46.323 seconds.
Clint Naiken and Abby Walter completed the podium in second and third respectively.

Brandon Peens stormed from the back to finish fourth, while Achilles Maria secured fifth, and Gaelle Alissop, after a mid-race spin, came in sixth.

 

Honda Cadets Round 4

The Honda Cadets delivered an electrifying race in their fourth round, with Joshua Cosgrow taking another victory under pressure from Nathan Nicette.

Nicette pushed hard throughout, even setting the fastest lap of the day at 41.691 seconds, but minor mistakes and Cosgrow’s defensive mastery made the difference.

Behind them, Loic Raoul held off a fast and determined Dwayne Seth to claim third, pushing the latter into fourth place.

Hailey Benoiton impressed once again, taking a strong fifth place after a brave and steady drive.

Later in the day, the track welcomed Academy Bambino Training 5, where the youngest karting hopefuls progressed in their understanding of flags and racing lines.

Their next session will introduce starting proceduresand advanced techniques, continuing their path into competitive karting.

 

Coming up next

Unfortunately, Senior Round 4, which was scheduled for Sunday June 1, 2025, had to be cancelled due to poor weather and unsafe track conditions.

However, karting action returns this weekend with Senior Round 5, set forSunday June 8, from 9amat the Roche Caïman Karting Track.

Spectators are encouraged to attend and support the drivers as the championship picks up pace once again.
