  •          SRC launches NextGen mentorship programme

The Seychelles Revenue Commission yesterday launched its NextGen mentorship programme, an important talent identification tool aimed at nurturing young employees into aspiring leaders.

Introduced as part of the Seychelles Revenue Commission’s (SRC) ongoing transformative journey, the new cohort of six NextGen leaders aged between 18 and 35, hailing from Tax and Customs Division, will embark on a 12-month mentorship journey starting June 1, 2025.

Committed to creating opportunities for employees to accelerate, develop and grow their career in the field of tax and customs, the NextGen mentorship programme will provide the young professionals a deeper understanding of the evolving Tax and Customs industry. Highlights of the programme will also entail the importance of governance and advocacy, the necessity to drive transformative change to increase efficiencies, and the significance of digitalisation to optimise internal operations and revenue collection.

Throughout the 12-month programme, the NextGen leaders will be paired with a mentor from the commission’s executive management to facilitate the transfer of essential skills and industry knowledge, and to further empower the future leaders in fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, resilience and transparency when faced with adversities. Aligning operational processes, organisational culture, and technology with SRC’s strategic priorities, at the end of the programme, the NextGen Leaders will be rated for bringing forth innovative solutions by implementing a project based on a component that is not functioning as desired within SRC or requires improvement with tracked results.

Following a rigorous selection process by the SRC’s executive management, representative of the SRC Board and Transformation Committee Lead, the six NextGen leaders joining the mentorship programme are as follows: Sandra Bristol –Post Office Unit; Julian Chetty – Information and Technology Unit; Emmanuella Robert – International Tax Unit; Ryan Louise – Enforcement Unit; Sanjay Cesar – Audit Unit and Jonathan Volcère – Seaport Examination Unit.

The NextGen leaders received their acceptance letter and terms of reference for the programme during a small ceremony held at the SRC’s head office in Maison Collet yesterday in the presence of the Commissioner General, Varsha Singh, and the Transformation Committee Lead, Nissa Joseph.

To note, the organisation received more than 10 applications for the programme internally.
