The Anti-Corruption Commission of Seychellesrepresented by commissioner May De Silva and deputy commissioner Henry Bastienne paid a courtesy call to the Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Roger Mancienne this week.

The aim of the courtesy call was for the commission to present its annual report for the year 2024 to the Speaker. The report was submitted in accordance with section 81 of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2016 and has been tabled in the National Assembly on the morning of Tuesday April 8, 2025.

During the meeting, Commissioner De Silva addressed the work of the ACCS throughout 2024 and highlighted the numerous statistics and conclusions that have been incorporated in the report. The commissioner also discussed some of the challenges that the organisation has faced over the years, including the ongoing gap in recruitment and the need for additional specialised employees for ACCS to continue carrying out its mandate to a higher degree. In addition to the discussions on the challenges of the commission, Commissioner De Silva discussed the mandate of the organisation and how it has evolved throughout her tenure.

Hon. Mancienne highlighted the significance of the reports submitted to the Assembly for its members and how it may influence future in-house discussions. Additionally, the Hon. Speaker took the time to congratulate Mr Basitienne who was recently appointed deputy commissioner of ACCS.
The fruitful meeting concluded with the Hon. Speaker expressing his gratitude to the commissioner and the deputy commissioner for their ongoing work and for the presentation of the report.
