Cable & Wireless Seychelles proudly stood alongside the Division for Substance Abuse Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation as a collaborator in this year’s ‘Dry March’ Challenge – a national initiative encouraging individuals to abstain from alcohol for the month of March in support of healthier lifestyles and stronger communities.

Now in its latest edition, the Dry March campaign continues to shine a spotlight on the impacts of alcohol misuse, while promoting a message of renewal, reconnection, and recovery. This year’s theme, S.O.B.E.R: Strengthening Our Bonds and Embracing Reconnections, invited participants to reflect, rebuild, and embrace 31 days of sobriety as an opportunity to heal relationships and restore balance.

The campaign featured a recent community fun walk that started at the Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) clinic in English River and ended at Beau Vallon beach, bringing together 108 participants, including proud representatives from various departments at Cable & Wireless Seychelles (CWS). Led by the company’s health and safety team, our staff joined the event to show support not only for the Division for Substance Abuse Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation (DSAPTR), but also for the countless individuals navigating the journey of sobriety.

“Our participation in the fun walk is a reflection of our commitment to wellbeing –  both within our company and across the community,” said Andrya Louise, health and safety officer at Cable & Wireless. “This challenge reminds us that small steps – whether a walk or a conscious choice – can lead to stronger relationships and healthier lives.”

Alcoholism continues to pose serious challenges in Seychelles, impacting physical health, family life, and emotional wellbeing. DSAPTR’s ongoing efforts in prevention, education, and rehabilitation are crucial in tackling these issues head-on. Campaigns like Dry March also encourage meaningful conversations, shared experiences, and a renewed focus on wellness.

CWS commends DSAPTR for leading this important movement and is proud to have played a role in amplifying its message. The company reaffirms its dedication to workplace and community health, and remains committed to supporting national initiatives that inspire positive change.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to Cable & Wireless for their valuable support throughout the campaign. A special note of appreciation goes to those who took on the challenge and to the team members who participated in the walk – your involvement truly helped amplify the message of unity and healthier living,” said Jennifa Belmont, director of the prevention and education unit at DSAPTR.
