The driver’s compartment of a container reach stacker was destroyed in a fire yesterday morning.

According to the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency (SFRSA), the incident happened at the Port Authority container yard at Bois De Rose (ex-Coast Guard). The SFRSA said its Victoria Fire Station received the report at 9.08am and quickly deployed a fire tender, a water bowser tender and seven firefighters.

Upon arrival, flame and heavy smoke was observed coming out of the driver’s compartment, it said in a press release.

“The team of firefighters acted quickly by using foam and water to control and completely extinguish the fire,” read the communique, adding this was done within 30 minutes.

There was no casualty or injury in relation to the incident, said the SFRSA. The cause of fire is yet to be determined and an investigation is underway.
