Le Duc de Praslin adopts Salazie nature trail |29 March 2025

Tourists and locals alike will soon be able to hike up to the Salazie Nature Trail on Praslin and enjoy the stunning beauty of its natural surroundings. This is thanks to an initiative by Le Duc de Praslin, a hotel located at Côte d'Or and owned by renowned hotelier Robert Payet.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed yesterday by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Sylvestre Radegonde, Minister for Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment Flavien Joubert and Mr Payet to formalise this partnership and initiative.
Present were the principal secretary for tourism, Sherin Francis, and that of environment, Denis Matatiken, staff from both departments and from Le Duc de Praslin.
In his address before signing the agreement, Minister Joubert said it is a pleasure to see a partnership being developed between the government and a private business, to promote eco-tourism activities.
"This trail has been in use for several years, but recently it has been somewhat blocked. We appreciate the efforts Mr Payet has made to restore the trail to its former standard,” said Minister Joubert, who also encouraged developers of this initiative to create more activities for visitors coming to the country.
This was echoed by Minister Radegonde, who commended Mr Payet for such an initiative. According to him, this is the second trail adopted by a tourism establishment on Praslin.
