OSHAssociation Seychelles chapter hosts international safety conference and induction of new members

The OSHAssociation Seychelles chapter hosted an impactful International Safety Conference on February 27, 2025, bringing together 51 participants for an engaging and informative session.

The event also included the induction of new members into the association.

The conference featured key speakers, including the OSHAssociation Country President Tina Hoarau, operations and executive director OSHAssociation, Tony Cullen and Dr Vesna Pillay.

They delivered thought-provoking presentations on the urgent need to address climate change and its effects on both global and local levels.

The session was highly interactive, encouraging participants to engage in meaningful discussions and ask critical questions about the environmental challenges we face today.

One of the main objectives of the conference was to educate Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) officers and members of the OSHAssociation on the significant impact of climate change on worker safety and health. With rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and shifting environmental conditions, the safety of workers is increasingly at risk. Those working in sectors such as agriculture, construction, and outdoor industries are particularly vulnerable to heat stress, hazardous conditions, and disruptions caused by more frequent severe weather events.

The conference emphasised the need for enhanced safety protocols and strategies to protect workers in the face of a changing climate.

Additionally, the event served as an opportunity to welcome new members to the OSHAssociation, inviting them to join in the collective effort to promote sustainable practices, environmental responsibility, and improved worker safety across various sectors.

The OSHAssociation Seychelles chapter is dedicated to raising awareness and providing practical solutions to the challenges posed by climate change, with a focus on protecting the health and safety of workers. Those interested in learning more about the association or becoming a member are encouraged to contact us on seychelles@oshassociation.org
