‘Sesel ou menm nou sel patri’ – these powerful words from the Seychelles national anthem, resonated deeply during a heartfelt celebration of the nation’s 49th Independence Day.
Held at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Abu Dhabi, the gala was a stirring testament to the resilience, identity and unity of the Seychellois community living in the United Arab Emirates.
Organised under the patronage of the Seychelles embassy in the UAE, this year’s event was spearheaded by a passionate committee made up entirely of Seychellois residents. Their tireless commitment transformed the evening into more than just a celebration; it was a heartfelt homecoming for many, filled with culture, laughter, and bonds of Creole heritage. The atmosphere was electric with pride and cultural expression, as families and friends gathered to celebrate. From soulful creole music to heartfelt speeches and décor inspired by the national flag, the evening brought Seychelles to life in the heart of the Emirates.
