Perseverance voters urged to register
Inhabitants of Perseverance 1 and Perseverance 2 have the opportunity to register themselves as voters in their new district or confirm their names and address at the district administration offices 1 and 2.
“The aim of this activity is to allow residents and those who were residing at any time during this year but has since moved out, to verify the Perseverance provisional register to check if they are on the register there and have any errors in their details corrected; register if they are first time voters; apply for change of name if there have been any changes to their names or place objections if their names are on the list but they no longer reside at Perseverance,” noted Salina Sinon, the senior legal officer at the office of the Electoral Commission.
This exercise is being carried only in the electoral area of Perseverance in order to complete the voters’ list of 2019 which will be closed by December 31, 2019.
A provisional list was published in the Saturday issue of the Seychelles NATION newspaper and any anomaly noted should be reported to the electoral commission or to the two district administration offices at Perseverance 1 and 2 from Monday November 25 to Friday November 29.
Both offices are open from 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday and the office of the Electoral Commission will be open on Saturday November 30 and Sunday December 1 from 10am to 6pm.
People are being asked to seize the opportunity to verify their names and also to bring along their national ID card.
