‘No reported incidents directly tied to the haze’

As the haze continues to linger over Seychelles, the Ministry of Health has reassured the public that, to date, no direct health cases has been linked to the ongoing air quality concerns.
Senior medical officer in Community Medicine, Dr Nelly Marie, made this statement yesterday in an interview at the Red Roof building of the Seychelles Hospital.
While there have been no reported health incidents directly tied to the haze, Dr Marie emphasised the importance of caution, as the air quality has been categorised as unhealthy by the aqicn Air Pollution Monitoring System.
The haze is caused by a combination of atmospheric conditions and potential transboundary pollutants that has elevated particulate matter levels in the air.
This decline in air quality is linked to some people, particularly among vulnerable populations, experiencing respiratory issues.
