SBL shifts to clear PET bottles for Sprite in line with Coca-Cola company’s sustainability goals |19 February 2025

Seychelles Breweries Ltd (SBL), the licensed bottler of The Coca-Cola Company [TCCC] brands in Seychelles, is pleased to announce the transition of its Sprite PET bottles from traditional green to clear PET bottles.
This significant shift is aimed at enhancing recyclability, making it easier to recycle Sprite bottles and reducing the environmental impact of plastic waste.
The move aligns with TCCC’s global sustainability goals by ensuring more bottles are recycled into new products, contributing to a circular economy.
The transition will commence with the 1.5L PET bottles, which will be the first to adopt the new clear bottle format, followed by the 500ml and 300ml PET bottles in the coming weeks.
“This phased approach allows us to efficiently manage existing stock while minimising waste and ensuring a seamless transition to the new packaging format,” said Yvonne Mwangi, managing director at SBL.
By the end of March 2025, all Sprite products produced by SBL will be packaged in clear PET bottles. This initiative is part of TCCC’s broader global sustainability strategy and underscores SBL’s ongoing commitment to implementing environmentally responsible practices.
“At SBL, sustainability is at the core of our operations. This transition represents a crucial step towards a more sustainable future, aligning with both local and global efforts to protect our environment,” added Ms Mwangi.
SBL is proud to support TCCC’s sustainability initiatives within the Seychelles market and remains dedicated to keeping customers informed throughout this transition.
