It was in an atmosphere of excitement and joy that the Victoria Clock Tower was illuminated in the vibrant red colour last night to usher in the Chinese Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival.

Organised by the Chinese embassy in Seychelles, in collaboration with the Seychelles National Institute for Culture, Heritage and the Arts, the Mayor of Victoria’s Office and the Chinese Association of Seychelles, the lighting of the iconic Clock Tower in the capital centre attracted a crowd of locals and the Chinese community, who cheered with excitement as it illuminated, joining other iconic landmark buildings and monuments in other Chinese communities and cities worldwide for the Chinese Lunar New Year.
