Karting - Super Final brings racing season to an end |22 November 2019

The Karting season ended last Sunday with their Super Final, where 33 drivers from all the categories of Karting took part to try to scoop the seven end-of-season Super Final titles on offer.

In the youngest class, SF6 (Cadets), Delroy Lionnet took victory from Arth Shah while Marius Samson claimed third place in the six-lap race.

Arth Shah was crowned 2019 SF6 champion with 125 points while Delroy Lionnet took the runner-up spot with 117 points

In SF5 (Juniors), Graig Laporte took the win with Ruben Magnan second and the luckless Dhuvil Varodhia taking third after encountering brake problems.

Dhuvil Varodhia, however won the 2019 championship with 97 points and Graig Laporte took the runner-up spot with 94 points.

Cedric Ah-Time dominated the field of this 12-lap race to take another win in the SF4 class as Lopez Anacoura finished second after a near photo finish with Dean Maillet inches away in third. Cedric Ah-Time is the 2019 champion with 134 points, with Lopez Anacoura the runner-up with 99 points.

SF3 was won by Denilson Melanie with newcomer Carlos Renaud second and Philippa Samson third. Denilson Melanie is the 2019 champion and he achieved the feat with two rounds to spare, while Loïc Scharfenberg, who was absent on Sunday, took the runner-up spot.

Drivers in the SF2 class used the newly acquired Biz karts for the second time, and there was a complete shake-up in the usual results with Mitra Labrosse taking a comfortable win, while Fabio William, who had to start last and in the pit lane for missing qualifying, took a close second place. Damian Bonnelame was third.

In the end, Damian Bonnelame took the 2019 championship win with 136 points from his brother Rennick Bonnelame on 129 points.

In the premier SF1 class, Liza Rene-Cosgrow capitalised on a fantastic start to win with Dave Rene taking second and setting the fastest time of the day of 33.34 seconds. Roland Delcy took third.

But it was Dave Rene who won the 2019 championship with 132 points with Liza Rene-Cosgrow as the runner-up on 122 points.

Finally, in the ladies’ SFW class, where they too used the new Biz karts, Liza Rene-Cosgrow kept the momentum going with another dominant win, making it a double victory in two classes on the day, with Mitra Labrosse second and Louisa Lafortune third.

Liza Rene-Cosgrow won the 2019 championship with 150 points with Mitra Labrosse finishing as runner-up on 122 points.

The top three from each class were awarded medals at the end of a very hot day, and the Seychelles Karting Association will officially close the season with the annual prize-giving gala which is scheduled to be held on Sunday December 8 from 4pm to 6pm at the Chilli Bar Restaurant, La Louise, where all the podium finishers during the year and the champions will be rewarded.

The best kart drivers of the year for ladies, men and youth categories will also be announced during the evening.
