Father’s Association holds first AGM

The Father’s Association of Seychelles has proposed the formation of father’s groups at district level to better attend to issues at community level.

This came out of the association’s first Annual General Meeting held over the weekend at the Roche Caiman community centre.

The event coincided with the association’s one year existence, on March 3.

Led by chairperson Charles Zialor, the members discussed the association’s vision and mission and reported on their 2023 activities as well as approved their budget.

When addressing the members, Mr Zialor stressed on “what they could do as fathers for their families and their country”.

He expressed his appreciation at the attendance, and the level of engagement.

“We had 17 fathers present and they all engaged in a frank conversation, to see how they could improve things be it at family or community level and all the suggestions have been taken into account,” said Mr Zialor.

One such proposal was for each district to have their own father’s grouping, which Mr Zialor said will be discussed further.

The Father's Association of Seychelles was officially launched on March 3, 2023 with the support of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs and the Citizens Engagement Platform Seychelles, Ceps.
