21 athletes at the starting line

The third race of the annual cross-country series took place last Saturday at the Roche Caïman fitness trail, gathering 21 athletes who competed in seven different categories.

Despite all the efforts during the week to obtain official results of the event from hosts the Seychelles Athletics Federation (SAF), Sports NATION never received any response, illustrating the lack of efficiency from those responsible to disseminate information within the federation.

That in itself shows lack of commitment on behalf of certain individuals vouched to work towards the well-being and development of local sports.

It is worth reminding all those involved that during a special ‘meet and greet’ event at the L’Escale Marina & Spa with members of the different local media houses, shortly after taking office, chief executive of the National Sports Council (NSC) Marc Arissol urged everyone to work together toward a common goal which is to revive local sports.

He said, he strongly believes that the headquarters, which are the heart of any organisation, should be well and in working order, so that other sections or branches can function properly, and effectively.

Despite the ongoing communication issues, it is however worth noting that as media house, Seychelles NATION has, over the years, developed very good working relationships with some of the local sports governing bodies, especially those considered as small’, or non-popular sports.

We have already entered into the second month of 2024, and hopefully, the attitude of some people changes when it comes to cooperating with the media houses at all times, and not only when it is convenient to them.

For the sake of the athletes, especially the younger ones, Sports NATION has decided to publish the results – ranks only – despite the unavailability of their official times.
