Air Seychelles team empowered with leadership skills

Over 70 staff members from Air Seychelles recently had the opportunity to attend an intense leadership training hosted by Impact 8, a UK-based leadership consultancy company dedicated in providing programs for organisations undergoing changes within their present business structure.

Conducted in three phases and in batches of 25 staff each, the training which forms part of the learning and development scheme of the airline, focused on developing the staff members’ interpersonal skills when coping with certain situations and how to counter any potential issues.

As part of the experience, the team had the chance to participate in the revolutionary spotlight personality profiling (thinking framework) tool to better understand their personalities and individual style of working.

The effective tool which brought both individual’s personal profile together with the team dynamics assessments through various interactive activities, allowed the members to increase their self-awareness and eventually think beyond their capacity to shift their habitual ways of working.

Joel de Commarmond, manager human resources at Air Seychelles said: “The purpose of the training was to develop and implement a program at Air Seychelles that would not only help the team members reflect on their leadership strengths but, more importantly, to help them identify and improve their blindspots.

“The sessions held was indeed successful and we hope that colleagues who attended the training will now be able to apply the knowledge gained throughout their daily duties.”

Speaking at the end of the last session, Dr Greg Flint, one of the facilitators from Impact8 who led the training, highlighted: “We have been blown away with the passion and commitment that the team at Air Seychelles have demonstrated over the past two weeks. There are some immensely bright and dynamic individuals working here, but perhaps most importantly for us is the great sense of camaraderie and team spirit demonstrated throughout the organisation.”
