October is cancer awareness month and so far, numerous activities have been organised to raise awareness about cancer and raise funds for the Cancer Concern Association.

This week, Falcon Insurance, an insurance provider based at Eden Plaza, Eden Island, has grouped together businesses on Eden Island to organise a family-friendly fun-day activity to be held tomorrow from 10am to 4pm, to raise funds for Cancer Concern’s causes.

On offer at the Plaza tomorrow will be various treats for the little ones including candy floss, balloons and other sweet treats, as well as other activities including face painting.

Also available on sale will be T-Shirts and mugs of Cancer Concern Association Seychelles.

It must be noted that some kiddies treats will be available free of charge, while others will be paid and the proceeds donated towards the association.

For those who wish to make a monetary donation to the association, donation boxes will be placed around the mall to allow them to do so.

Sales insurance advisor at Falcon Insurance Arina Florine, who also coordinated the event, noted that Falcon Insurance has previously been engaged with raising awareness about cancer and last year organised a sensitisation campaign but this year decided to do so on a grander scale, on account that cancer touches the lives of many in Seychelles.

“Numerous organisations are working towards raising awareness for the cause especially this month and we wanted to be part of that, and group all the Eden businesses together, to increase attention and support for the awareness,” Ms Florine noted.

The businesses have also collaborated to produce a raffle, with some interesting prizes up for grabs. The raffle, which costs R25, is available from Falcon Insurance and will be sold throughout tomorrow and the weekend until the draw on Monday evening.

Prizes include a full-day charter, half-day charter, beer buckets, R1000 vouchers for Eden Holistic Spa, Kreolor, Bravo Restaurant and Bar and Jouel. Also up for grabs are a R2000 voucher from fashion outlet Jane, vouchers for Quatres Epices, goodies from the Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB) Eden branch as well as ice cream from Eden Ice Creams.

All proceeds from the event will be donated towards the Association at a future date. The raffle will be drawn on Monday October 28.
