Decorated local bodybuilder Wallace Dorasamy responded to an invitation from President Wavel Ramkalawan by making a courtesy visit to State House yesterday morning.

Dorasamy, who has been spectacular this year in oversees competitions, was welcomed by the head of state during his visit.

In an interview with the media, Dorasamy said it was a great honour as an athlete to be welcomed by the president at the State House and he is highly motivated to keep pushing further in his career as a sportsman.

“This visit has given me a lot of motivation as it was not easy to reach the point I have reached today. It has been a tough journey and there is lot more to do and again it is a great honour to be recognised like this,” said Dorasamy.

Dorasamy mentioned that during his meeting with the head of state they discussed his preparations for future competitions, things he might need to go further and other small details that he could improve on.

He added that next year he will be coming out stronger to build on his success achieved in 2023.

Dorasamy also mentioned that he has seen progression in his career as he has been fighting hard and now he has won two gold medals abroad, showcasing much improvement in the space of eight years.

“With the team behind me, my coach who is the key, I promise all Seychellois to give my best in the upcoming competitions and chase a pro card,” said Dorasamy.

He also stated that he had to improve his mental health and since bodybuilding is a technical sport everything depends on him to execute a good performance.

His most recent exploit was a gold medal and a silver won at the Gymshark Ryan Terry British Championships 2023 at the Manchester Central Convention Complex in Manchester, England. At the Gymshark Ryan Terry British Championships, Dorasamy competed firstly in the open bodybuilding middleweight class where he clinched the gold medal, and secondly in the men's classic physique where he finished second to settle for the silver medal.
