Staff of MoFNPT donate consignment of soft toys to NCC |23 December 2023
The Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade (MoFNPT) has donated a consignment of soft toys to the National Council for Children (NCC).
The generous donation came from staff of the ministry, following an appeal in the aftermath of the December 7 disasters, given the traumatic experience the children have gone and are going through.
The ministry chose to focus its donation for children as we are celebrating the festive season.
Minister Naadir Hassan and the director general for Human Resources Budget Management, Mirose Boniface, handed over the donation to NCC, yesterday morning.
Speaking afterwards, he said “this donation is meaningful as children have a special place in our society. First and foremost, I would like to thank the team at NCC for the noble mission you are undertaking to provide care, compassion and support to our children. I will certainly not qualify what your team does as a job, it is so much more than that. Secondly, this donation from our staff is very special, we came together as a team since all have a soft spot for our children and we need to protect them and preserve their innocence as much as we can”.
The chief executive of NCC, Yasmin Umarji, has expressed her profound appreciation for the donation, promising they will be put to good use.
“The soft toys will not be distributed immediately but over the period of the year, they will go to children or they will be used by therapists or others working with children. We can guarantee you, you have surely fulfilled your mandate, and you came to us at this time of the year of giving, with a very open heart for children. On behalf of my team, who without them, we cannot do this work, we thank you and all the staff of the ministry,” Ms Umarji said.
The ministry chose to donate soft toys given they are a source of comfort, provide a sense of familiarity and security and can be a companion to anyone at any age.
The MoFNPT intends to continue this new collaboration with NCC. “We will continue to provide support to NCC because we admire the mission you are on, to provide essential support to our children and give them a better start in life,” said Minister Hassan.
