Kuwaiti ambassador pays courtesy call on President Ramkalawan |15 December 2023
Enhancing diplomatic relations between Seychelles and Kuwait was the topic of discussion between the Kuwaiti ambassador to Seychelles, Mubarak Mohammad Alsehaijan, and President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House yesterday afternoon.
Ambassador Alsehaijan, who was accredited as his country’s ambassador to Seychelles in July 2019, was paying a courtesy call on the head of state.
“I have seen the president of Seychelles and we have discussed many things, to enhance the relationship between the state of Kuwait and the Republic of Seychelles, and it was a very successful discussion between the President and I,” he stated.
Speaking on the possibility of a visa waiver for Seychellois travelling to Kuwait in the future, Ambassador Alsehaijan said the topic was being discussed by the two parties and given that the process will take some time, Seychellois would be able to travel visa free into Kuwait in two years’ time maximum.
He added the agreement will also include air links between the two countries.
The ambassador also conveyed his sympathy to the country following the two disasters of last week.
“I want to say something that is to accept condolences about the blast and the flood last week from me and from the people of Kuwait and I hope that it will be alright for everybody in the future.”
Also present during the discussion at State House was the principal secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Vivianne FockTave.
Kuwait and Seychelles established diplomatic relations on July 11, 1988.
