Praslin’s oldest resident celebrates 103rd birthday |12 December 2023
The tight-knit community of Baie Ste Anne came together on December 5, 2023, to celebrate the 103rd birthday of Antonia Antoine, nee Dugasse.
The occasion was marked by heartfelt moments and warm wishes from family, friends and government officials.
Surrounded by loved ones at her residence, Mrs Antoine received hampers and tokens from the President's Office, the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, and the Family department.
In her youth, Mrs Antoine served as a teacher, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of many. Later, she took on a role with the Ministry of Environment at Fond B’Offay, Praslin, where she continued to contribute until her retirement.
Among the attendees were the district administrator for Baie Ste Anne, Bery Cedras, and the director general for Community Affairs, Denise Clarisse.
Mrs Antoine has been a pillar of strength for her family, with a single daughter and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her birthday celebration was an intimate affair, filled with shared memories and the affectionate laughter of generations coming together.
As the sun set on this special day, Baie Ste Anne Praslin celebrated not only a birthday but a life well-lived.
