Gran Kaz sponsors child-friendly operating room in support of paediatric patientsxx

Gran Kaz has made a generous contribution to the ‘Child Friendly OT’ project, an initiative aimed at creating a more soothing and relaxed environment for paediatric patients undergoing surgery.

The project, spearheaded by Paediatric OT nurse Noella Mellie, seeks to alleviate the anxiety and fear children experience when heading into the operating room.

Surgery can be a daunting experience for individuals of all ages, and for young children, the fear can be overwhelming. The Child Friendly OT project is designed to transform the standard operating theatre setting into a less stressful and more welcoming environment for young patients and their families.

At the Seychelles Hospital, the dedicated paediatric operating team cares for a maximum of 8 patients per week, which includes emergency cases. Patients are aged between 0-12 years.

Gran Kaz's generous donation to the Child Friendly OT project includes scrubs with cartoon characters, bed sheets and pillowcases with cartoon characters and projector with cartoon characters, including installation.

“The investment in these resources reflects Gran Kaz's dedication to the well-being of the hospital’s youngest patients. By providing child-friendly scrubs, bed linens, engaging projectors, and educational materials, we aim to create a nurturing environment that eases the stress and anxiety that children and their families may experience during hospitalisation and surgery,” said Shama Amesbury, PR and communications manager at Gran Kaz.

Noella Mellie, Paediatric OT Nurse and the driving force behind the Child Friendly OT project, expressed her gratitude for Gran Kaz's support, saying, "Our paediatric patients and their families will greatly benefit from this initiative. We are committed to ensuring that their surgical experiences are as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Gran Kaz's generous contribution will play a significant role in achieving this goal."

Through this partnership with the "Child Friendly OT" project, Gran Kaz has reaffirmed its commitment to initiatives that prioritise the well-being and comfort of all patients, including the youngest members of the community.
