First Lady visits Praslin centenarians |11 November 2023

First Lady Linda Ramkalawan yesterday visited the four centenarians residing on Praslin and expressed her happiness that she found them in very good conditions and being well taken care of by their families.

Mrs Ramkalawan visited Antonia Antoine and Evangeline Joubert of Baie Ste Anne and Estherilia Lemiel and Raymond Hoareau of Grand Anse Praslin. Mr Hoareau, who turned 100 on May 30, is the only male centenarian in the country.

Mrs Ramkalawan spent some time with all four and presented them with a hamper, and her signature enamel mug, as a small token of appreciation.

The First Lady is on Praslin to host a reception for senior citizens to mark International Day for the elderly, which was in October. Today’s event at La Pirogue will be attended by senior citizens from Praslin and around ten guests from La Digue.
