‘Pink Link’ event in support of breast cancer patients

The clock tower in Victoria was illuminated in pink yesterday evening in support of breast cancer patients, survivors and those who have lost their battle with the disease.

It was part of the ‘Pink Link’ event hosted by the Soroptimist International Club of Victoria for Breast Cancer Awareness month during October.

Members of the club and the public formed a link around the clock tower by holding hands, dressed in pink.

The activity ended with a performance by a group of talented young boys who form part of the Plaisance boys’ choir. The Soroptimist Club had adopted the choir as a means of supporting and encouraging these young boys to lead a positive lifestyle away from the ills of our society.

During yesterday’s ‘Pink Link’ event, donation boxes were also made available to raise funds that will go towards cancer-related projects. The Soroptimist International Club will reveal the amount collected later after the sale of pink ribbons around town today.

Today’s ribbon sale will end a month-long of activities by the club.
